Is there an oil capable of evoking Sicily like a daydream? Yes: it is Tonda Iblea. Its scent of tomato and freshly cut grass will transport you directly to the fields of the island, where our traditions, our cunti<\/em>, and our ingenious, hardworking spirit are born.<\/p>\n

Our Favola Tonda Iblea oil comes from the monocultivar of the same name, one of the finest on our island. As its name suggests, it is widespread mainly in the area of the Iblei Mountains, between Ragusa, Syracuse, and Catania, and grows surrounded by beautiful villages such as Buccheri, Vizzini, Ferla, Palazzolo Acreide, Giarratana, and Comiso. It is also known by the synonyms Giarraffa, Alimena, Bruscarinu, Caloria, Prunara, Tonda Nera, and Vitriolo<\/em> [source: @oliodellasicilia.com].<\/p>\n

Known since ancient times, its fruits were used as table olives for a long time. The discovery of an extra virgin olive oil with an incomparable flavour and intoxicating aroma came only later. Its aroma has been described by some as a concentrate of Sicilian identity<\/em>: its very intense olive fruitiness is accompanied by a bouquet of notes such as tomato, basil, and cut grass, which are typical of the island. It is no coincidence that, for us, it is the \u201cciaurusa\u201d<\/em>, the olive that gives off fragrance.<\/p>\n
