Visit to the Olive Mill

During the guided tour, we will closely illustrate the techniques and stages of extra virgin olive oil production and share small tastings of our enogastronomic culture. We will take a walk among the olive groves to appreciate the wisdom and grandeur of our trees, which—from an early olive harvest in the field to a careful cold extraction technique—allow us to produce a precious oil in a “fairytale” territory.

We offer you another option for an enogastronomic tour discovering one of the most famous excellences of the Syracuse territory: the IGP Femminello lemon of Syracuse. Follow us in one of our lemon groves: you will breathe in the intense scent of orange blossoms, caress the leaves of these trees, and you will be able to pick the lemons from their branches yourself, savoring their unique flavor.

School

Upon request, we organize special days dedicated to school students during which, together with their teachers, they can embark on an olive oil tour for a few hours to discover the world of extra virgin olive oil at our mill. Why participate? The youngsters will learn the meaning of oleotourism by witnessing the explanation of the olive oil production techniques to understand how a local excellence is born.

Really incredible experience. You see the lemon grove, a few olive trees and the olive oil process. The guide is very knowledgeable and the olive oil is very tasty. The tasting was super fun. They also have beautiful gifts and bottles to bring home. They fit on carry on bag sizes. I’d highly recommend.

After we were warmly welcomed by Francesca, we had a magical tour in the olive and lemon grove led Fabrizio who shared his knowledge about growing and harvesting the crops organically and answered our many questions. So interesting! Then we learned about how they process the olives. All of this results in the most high quality organic olive oil. Francesca passionately led us through the tasting followed by fresh bread, olives and cheeses. Her depth of knowledge is vast. I can honestly say that Favola Oliva olive oil is the best I've ever tasted! Grazie Mille 💙

What a wonderful tour through citrus and olive groves with our knowledgeable and friendly guide Fabrizio. We got to taste a lemon from the grove and learn all about their pressing process. Fabrizio answered all of our questions and was a delight to spend an hour with. We tasted all four of their oils with light snacks. Highly recommend a stop at Favola when you’re in Sicily!

May 31, 2024Today we visited Oliva Farmhouse (www.agricolaoliva.it) outside of Solarino, Sicily. This special farm is just 15 minutes from Ortigia/Syracusa. We were openly welcomed by Francesca ( her family’s farm) and by Naomi (our tour guide).Naomi started the tour with a history of the farm and a walking tour through the lemon grove and the olive orchard. She explained the processes of harvesting and production.The oil tasting was amazing, like no other we have experienced. The small batch, organic, extra virgin olive oil that Oliva Farm produces is of the highest quality that is available in Sicily, in our opinion!We had a wonderful lunch of regional Sicilian foods and local wine. We really enjoyed the entire experience.When visiting Sicily, make your way to this unique farm. It’s a true, authentic experience of Sicilian craftsmanship and pride in their traditions and culture.

Last week, our family spent a wonderful afternoon at Farm Oliva. We all love olive oil, but knew little about its production. Francesca welcomed us and then we had the absolute pleasure of spending the rest of the time with Naomi - our amazing guide. Our tour given by Naomi was informative and fun. She gave us a brief history of the olive and lemon farm, the area and walked us through the process of olive oil production - beginning with the olive tree, harvesting of the olives to the end result of their top quality, organic extra virgin olive oil. After the tour, we learned how to properly taste and feel the olive oil in our mouth. Each one possessing a different flavor and feel. All outstanding! Naomi - you made our day - it shows that you love what you do! It is obvious that Francesca and her family are passionate about their way of life. Thank you for sharing that with us. We will fondly remember our time spent with both of you and are grateful to have shipped several bottles home to enjoy with everything. We hope to return to Sicily some day! (Ps - I forgot to mention while there that my great grandmother was Rosa Olivo- perhaps we are family!)
