Recent years have been marked by a strong growth trend in the organic sector. Consumers are increasingly attentive and informed about the benefits that a simple and natural product can bring not only to the individual body, but also to the surrounding environment. What many had dismissed as merely a passing trend, and which until recently represented a niche market, has instead become a phenomenon firmly established in the habits of millions of families.
There are various reasons behind the choice of organic products: a study conducted by Nomisma (2018) shows that 52% of consumers choose organic in search of a healthier diet, 47% believe that organic products offer greater quality and safety, while the remaining 26% make this choice to give a concrete contribution to protecting the planet’s resources.
Among the agri-food sectors most influenced by this trend is, of course, olive oil production. Organic oil is produced without the use of any chemical substances, such as fertilizers and herbicides.
This production method results in greater respect for our territory. Our company mission is, in fact, to enhance agriculture and protect our local area in order to promote and improve the quality of life in our region. For this very reason, our Favola oil line is enriched by two certified organic productions, widely recognized and appreciated internationally.
In February, our Favola Tonda Iblea Bio reached the podium at the international “Experience the World of Olive Oil” contest at BIOFACH 2020, taking third place, after winning first place in 2019. As every year, BIOFACH, the most important international event dedicated to the organic world, allows many oils from all over the world to compete and gives the floor to expert tasters, enthusiasts, buyers, and simple lovers of the olive oil world.
While the first two positions were awarded to two Spanish EVO oils, our Favola reached the podium, ranking third. An additional merit should be recognized: it was the first Italian oil to receive an award. Tonda Iblea is therefore confirmed as a cultivar appreciated by the international public, with its unmistakable tomato aroma that makes it a special extra virgin olive oil, whose excellence is always recognized by both experts and newcomers.
